kingman

better late than never. we have had a lot of problems getting connected to the internet at the waldorf astoria where we stayed for the night. my mate kiwi finally figured out how to bypass the wifi system at the motel(term used loosely) we racked last night. but here we are connected to the world again and living large. we had a great day on the road. kiwi did 355 including his ride out from riverside. his son ,ross, and two of his mates named phil and larry rode shotgun and handed kiwi off to me at 9 a.m. in indio. we took the 10 east and cut off on the joshua tree natl park exit. rode the park and had lunch in 29 palms. kiwi was non plussed by the park and was trying to figure out why with all of the great scenery in the country this place got the designation of national park. i tried to explain the unigue nature of the joshua tree as best i knew it but kiwi was not buying what i was selling. lunch was some good chinese food. we headed out to the fine metropolis of vidal 95 miles away. this is probably one of the most desolate roads in america save for the snakes and scorpions. kiwi barely missed running over one of the reptile beauties. as you all know kiwi is great for taking pics along the route. imagine my surprise when he digs in his pocket(while we are riding) to retrieve his camera. before i know it he is riding down the road snapping pics(look no hands ma).  pretty quick i see the camera held high over his head and he is taking my pic pointing the camera backwards. not once but several times because as i soon relaized not only was he taking pics but reviewing them as we rode. this clearly illustrates the difference in our riding abilities. me-2 hands on the bars at ALL times. kiwi-2,1,none its all good. : ) had several photo ops for the day and will post them when we figure out how to upload them. best one was when we finished dinner in kingman. as we head out to the bikes to find home sweet home for the night kiwi spots a beautiful pickup with a large trailer behind. you guessed it-there are 3 shiny new harleys in the trailer all lashed down tight. we rolled dirty gurl and CG1 up next to the trailer and got a nice WTF pose from kiwi as i took the pic. can't wait to show it to you. the boys in the truck will never know how famous they may be. ha ha. good night sleep and we are ready for the day. next post from winslow arizona and yes we will be sitting on the corner looking at the flat bed ford!

Rolling thunder ride

Final preparations are almost complete. Bikes are running great and riders are stoked to get rolling. Kiwi did a fabulous photo shoot at the Coast Guard yesterday. All the boys from the shop were able to join him for the special event. Both kiwi and I are very grateful for the efforts of Travis,Aaron and Jon in getting the bikes ready at the same time keeping the shop humming. Truth is known I might be more grateful since Kiwi's name is on the pay check. Ha ha. Next post will be from Kingman, Arizona after our first days ride.

Restorations and repairs

Restorations can be pretty challenging as we have to bring well
 worn out and sometimes abused 65 year old motorcycles back to
better than new condition. Our end result is to always bring
old parts back to "better" than new condition. Many times it
 is a challenge but we are known for extremely high level
of craftsmanship and quality work.
Recently we have been working on several frames readying them for
 ground up restorations. The following are just some of the things
 we have had to refurbish.
These are the challenges we enjoy.
 Note only do we make old stuff better but it looks the part too.
 That's where the Kiwi krews skill excels. Perfection, craftsmanship,
 engineering and pride in workmanship.
